It depends on how long she wants to look at each item to decide which things she wants. It took us about an hour + to go through, but I am sure it can take longer as well. When we registered, we went through each aisle, you kind of need to & make sure you get all the things you would like :O)

it's easier to do it online.... that way you can pick from the catalog... but if you want to do it at the store... it's the same... they give you a catalog and you choose... or you can go to open the registry and tell them that u wan to add items online....that's easier!

they give you a hand held scanner and you just scan (pull scan button like a trigger on a gun) every items bar code you want. so if you want a rocking chair for example you just find the bar code and scan it. it's automatically put on your list via the stores computer and ppl can access it from the store OR from online. if you want more than one item like diapers, you scan it as many times as you wish...i did that for diapers, and baby food things (bowls, cups, spoons...etc).it will take as long as you need. you can even add stuff later if you wish and are short on time the first trip.ps. i wouldn't register at Target though...they will NOT take any item back unless you have the reciept...and their system screws up a lot.

i work at babies r us and it will take you minumum an hour to register gifts. it takes a while because most customers like to really walk around and look at everything, plus you might want to ask a lot of questions to the employees. they are well trained and can really help you. After, they will print you a copy and you will even be able to add and remove stuff from your registry from home on the internet. have fun!

yup i really started mine online and add things in the store. I started at Babies r us, and i went to the desk and they showed me what to do. I mostly got a list of things I needed so I wouldnt ask for more than what you need. Because you'll end up getting things you might not have put on your list. So go with your friend and have a ball of a good time. It took me and my best friend about a hour or so and i didnt have to go down each lane.

Babies R Us has a registry template of recommended things...sort of like a starter registry, you can use it as a basis for what you need and tailor it to suit you. i actually did a lot of research before and was able to do most of my registry online. I only went to the store to register for things I wanted to see in person - like the pack n'play, stroller, carseat, bedding, decorative stuff, clothes, etc....it saved a lot of time trying to hunt everything down and I think it gave me the opportunity to narrow things down at my own pace. When you have that scanner in the store, you just start putting everything on there! If you're going to the store for the first time with no game plan, I would allow a couple of hours to look for things.
