When I garduated from high school in June 1999 my parents bought me a 1999 Toyota Camry as a graduation gift. I still have the same car 9 years later. Over the past 2 years many repairs have been done on this car. I put in a new fan belt, water pump, idle speed control and an oxygen sensor. As of today I have 101,000 miles on it. I drove this car all the way through college.Four years after graduating from college I only make $13,000 per year. Since I can't afford another car what are my chances of this car lasting many more years?Yesterday my car needed a new right turn signal socket.I love this car because its comfortable rides smoothly, has a good air conditioner, radio works and sounds good. The seats are very comfortable.

Dude its a Toyota, u should have no problem with that car. And is a camry, one of the best built vehicles in America, it should go on for another 100K miles. If you have done every single servicing , oil changes & everything from time to time that a car needs, & you have maintained it very well, then you should have no problems. The car is 9 yrs old, I mean problems will b coming but take care of them asap and you'll b good to go.

I can't comment on the specific model, but Toyota engines tend to last. People buy Toyotas that already have more miles than yours does, and drive them forever.

Toyota Camrys are very good cars. Well, actually, the ones made nowadays are not as good as the older ones because they're made here in America. No one get all political on me, but once the making of Camrys were moved to America, the quality went down. I used to drive an old Camry from 90 and should have taken better care of it, but it lasted a long time. I recently got a new one, and it came with all sorts of problems, and still has problems that the older Camrys never would have because Japanese companies/manufacturing plants have higher standards. As long as you've kept the car up with regular maintenance and oil changes, I could see that car lasting another 100,000 miles. It all depends on how well you treated it, and how much you used it, and what you may have put it through over the years. But, generally, I wouldn't worry about it.

Keeping up to date on your fuel filter, oil filter, oil changes, and air filter, will do the best for your vehicle. Transmition, I wouldn't worry too much about for the next 30,000 miles or so. Very important to get your fuel filter changed every year or so. If you don't this can burn out your fuel pump faster, cause it has to work harder at pumping the fuel.

Since I bought my '99 Camry (built in Kentucky), I put 218,000 miles on it of all kinds of driving. It is still going strong.I changed oil every 5,000 miles and air filters and brakes whenever necessary plus regular inspection. Timing belt was changed twice, as required, at 90K and 180K. Water pump was also changed at 180K (preventatively). Transmission fluid was flushed couple times and spark plugs around 200K (just in case).Around 120K a second shift solenoid failed (lost 1st and 4th gears). The cost of repair was about $250-300. At 180K A/C compressor started making noise about 3K RPM. I still drive with it -- probably should replace it with a refurbished one. An oil leak developed from couple places around 180K -- one around some back pipe, and one from the rear main seal. I was quoted ~$600 to replace, but I'm still driving like that, except I now have to add a bit of oil every 2,500 miles. The alarm tends to go off whenever car is left in a sun for couple hours. There were few blown fuses -- don't know why.Minor things like burnt light bulbs once in a while, wipers, some broken plastic pieces -- I don't even count. So, as long as you maintain your car doing what the book says to do, it will drive for another 100K.
