A friend of mine is having a housewarming party. She wants gift cards and she registered at Target. She is only renting the house with her boyfriend and all of their kids. So, I realize this is tacky. But, she is wanting to write a little poem to put in the invites that politely mention she wants gift cards from certain places. Any ideas?

You're right. This is tacky and rude. Asking and telling people what kind of gifts to get is low. Just throw the party and if the guests ask what is needed, THEN, say she is registered at Target.

yeaah that is pretty tacky..but if you really wanted to be nice..tell the people yourself..give them a call instead of putting it on the invite which is rude..dont have your friend call though..TACKY!!!

I have never heard of anyone registering for gifts for a housewarming party and housewarming parties are for BUYING a home..not renting. It's also totally inappropriate to ask for any gifts at all.

Tacky yes... if she is inviting folks over for a housewarming and expecting gifts, that's kind of weird, I'd say. Most people will bring a gift regardless of being asked.
