If they are moving into a house, rather than an apartment. You can't go wrong with a Home Depot or Lowe's type store gift card.Every time I move to a new house, I have to visit Home Depot about 200 times for light bulbs or yard tools or whatever. I always appreciate a gift card like that.Good luck.

A nice plant (one that will grow - not cut flowers that will die), a cookbook, nice bottle of wine or champagne, my favourite - a three legged frog (it's a feng shui thing to bring prosperity into the home).

I think a nice indoor or outdoor plant as big and attractive as you can find, it's alive and the right one can live for a very long time, there are plenty out there.
