i'm gettin hitched in a month and wondering when people sent you wedding gifts. i heard it varies by region. about what proportion of gifts came before the wedding, what proportion of gifts were brought to the wedding, and what proportion of gifts came after? and if the gifts came before the wedding, when did they come? months before, weeks before, days before? thanks alot!!i'm worried about the gifts because we've only gotten 3 of them and it's 4 weeks away and i'm trying to stay on top of thank you notes

It is still appropriate to give gifts up to one year after the wedding. If you're in it just for the gifts, well, don't be surprised if you're disappointed.

Everybody who came to the wedding and got us a gift brought the gift to the wedding with them. The only gifts we received outside of the wedding was money from a few relatives who couldn't make it to the wedding and wanted to congratulate us anyway. Those generally came in the couple of weeks before the wedding. I live in the Northeast US.

I believe the gifts come with the guest. You might want to have someone incharge of putting the gifts away for you. If gifts were to be sent out to you it will probably be from people that cant make it to ypur wedding. They will Send you gifts if that is what they usually do. In my family if they come they bring gifts if not they dont.

We only received 4 gifts, all at the reception. Everyone gave cards w/ money. That's all I ever gave, because they should have everything they need after a shower, and this way they can buy or use it for whatever they want.

I've never sent a wedding gift before the wedding. I've brought them to the wedding or sent them shortly after. That's one thing you really shouldn't be stressing over (there's so many other things to think of!)

I live on the west coast and got married in 1991. I would say I got about half my gifts in advance of the wedding. The first few began arriving soon after my invitations went out. I got most of the rest at the wedding itself, and a couple of people brought them to the family gift-opening the next day (a long-held tradition in my family.)

Got all the wedding gifts at the reception - that's where people bring them.Oh, got one a few days before - because it was an original piece of artwork, framed, so the artist brought it to my mom's house. And one couple brought their gift to the gift opening at my mom's house the next day - it was a homemade comforter, so it was big!
