abercrombie gift cards...?

If I go to the abercrombie and fitch store in the mall and by a gift card could I use that gift card and abercrombie (kids) or abercrombie (kids) online?? Online, when you get to the payment part of your order, there should be a place for the barcode number on the card. I think you just enter that. I've never actually used my Abercrombie gift cards online, but that's how it is on Hollister and AE's website, so I assume it is the same.
