Someone else mentioned a custom framed invitation as a wedding gift. How about a nice frame, for a future lawyers license, degree or whatever it is called, with a card saying something along the lines of you hoping to see that document framed some day.It would be a more personal gift than money, and it would probably be a gift that wouldn't be duplicated, as it looks like you are looking for a special gift..

I would get him a legal dictionary or something similar. A gift certificate where they sell legal reference books is good because he is going to be doing A LOT of reading. I work in a law office and the Lawyers use the legal library all the time, especially the ones with only a few years of experience. The other thing you could do is get him a gift certificate to place that sells formal and business wear for men. He is going to need a good suit! What about a brief case with his initials engraved on it? Those come in handy too!!!

It depends on your budget, but it could be a nice tie or a laptop, or a trip

How about a share in a big company? You can get it framed and personalised. Or perhaps a leather portfolio case.
