My friend has asked me for ideas on what to get her husband for their first year wedding anniversary. She wants to give him something that he can KEEP forever. NO JEWELLERY. I'm stuck on original ideas so I would appreciate anything and everything. Thanks in advance.

I just gave my husband a photo of us at our wedding reception in a frame covered in paper hearts as paper traditionally marks the first anniversary.

How about some kind of engraved box for him to keep his things on his dresser or night stand. Or a box for love letters and she could write him one every year...depending on how sappy she/he is. Or an engraved picture frame with their wedding portrait for him to take to the office.

If cost is not an issue, she could try some of the ideas listed on this website...http://www.xperiencedays.com/Index.aspx?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=unique%20anniversary%20gifts&utm_campaign=national&gclid=CPu84uXVpowCFQuQGgodcjFp6QMany of these ideas could be carried out in her local area if she couldn't travel to do them. The hot air balloon ride sounds like it would be beautiful and with something like that she could have someone there to take their picture to frame and keep. It would definitely be an unforgettable gift.

This isn't going to help your friend but the 1st anniversary is paper so if you write a letter about your feelings the morning of your wedding then mail it to yourself it will have the post mark of your wedding day and be speaking from your heart that day forever. My bride that did this they were going on their HM right after and she had her sister taking in the mail anyway so it was no big deal to hide it.

A monogrammed valet for his dresser? He probably already has that though. How about a nice, quiet evening at home if that's what he likes? The best is one that requires sacrifice. Sure, she'd probably prefer a night out on the town, but how about cooking his favorites, serving it in a nightie by candlelight? She could give him a foot massage or a full-body massage. I think she could take it from there Wink

Hi, A unique painting of them together. If you have at least one photo you can use a service athttp://www.paintyourlife.com/They transform the photo into painting. They have original artists. See examples on their website. It is unique for the couple. It is not expensive. They can then add a wooden frame to painting and choose from several options. They can paint in oil, water color and many more...Karl Sultana

Paper anniversary. Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle. Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard. Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
