according to etiquette 1st anniversary is a gift of paper. So a card would suffice. Write your own romantic poem.

as a girl..i am going to say that a card will not suffice...it really depends on the girl, but in gerenal we like personal and thoughtful. We like to know that you know things about our likes and dislikes. Some girls like jewelry or high dollar gifts.Personally, for me, I would go with things like a mixed CD of songs that remind you of her (but try to stick with more her taste). If she collects something, get her an obscure item in that line.maybe even something in rememberence of the day you met or first went out with her.Girls dig that kind of stuff...be creative, but do not make it look like you were just trying to get by on the cheap.

you could just show her a good time, take her out to dinner and a movie of her choice. my boyfriend bought me a diamond necklace, which was really nice, to me it meant that he really cared, because the money he spent on the necklace was supposed to go toward his new desk.....but that makes a gift for him easy!even though the first aniversary is supposed to be paper, if you are giving her a card, make it yourself, it means alot more than store bought. And get something to go with it...if she likes bears, angels, wolfs, whatever get her something like that. If she likes pictures you could get her a digital picture frame, got one for the mother in law for mothers day, and it is really awesome, wish I had one!also is there anything that she has been hinting at. The hints might not be obvious, she may have just shown you something that she liked, or thought looked cool, which meant she wanted you to buy it for her... but some guys dont pick up on these things very quickly!thats about all I can come up with right now....hope it helps!

Give her a painting of herself, she can hang on the wall and will remember it forever. It is very original. You just need a photo of her, mail it or upload it to http://www.paintyourlife.com/.Choose some options, and they deliver it. These are real pro artists. See examples on the site.Karl Sultana

What about sharing past memories together by having a DVD Slideshow put together. I have given these before for numerous occasions and they are always a hit.You can combine personal / memorable photos with music customized to your preferences.I have used CT Imaging in the past, they are located at http://www.ctimaging.com

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle. Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard. Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.
