My best friend, a 23-year-old Hungarian, is marrying his Hungarian fiancee. They met in Dublin, so perhaps something Irish-themed?Could be a gift each, or a joint one. Academia is a big part of their lives (he's a science PhD; and she's a psychology/language student). I think I need help with her gift really.....she's quiet, funny, likes literature/photography...

Ask if they made a registry. Whatever they really need and/or want will be on the registry.

One thing that I got for my wedding that I used constently the "George Foreman". I would doubt that this is something that they already have.

Give them a picnic basket along with a blanket. Fill the basket with a couple of "scholarly" books, wine glasses, a bottle of wine, a cork screw, cloth napkins, and whatever else you think would be creative to throw in. Most picnic baskets these days come fully prepared with silverware, so you wouldn't need to include that. This could inspire the newleyweds to go on a much needed, relaxing, picnic date after the wedding.

A joint one can be done if you give them a painting.Instead of choosing a small size, choose a meduim size at http://www.paintyourlife.com/ Send the artists on that site a pic of what you want painted and they deliver your painting to you door.See real examples on their site for ideas.Karl

Try a journal. She/He can write about all the feelings their having at this hectic time. This will also help them so they don't get stressed keeping it inside.
