if someone gave me money should i say thanks for the cash or thanks for the gift in a thank your card?i am writing thank you cards, just wondering how to say thanks for cash lol, dunno wether to say thanks for the money or thanks for the gift

It's best to get the note out relatively soon, in my opinion. So, if you've already bought something, thank them for what you bought. If you have a plan for what you'll buy, tell them, "The money will really help me to buy my new xyz." If you have no idea yet, thank them for their generosity & tell them you'll put it into savings for something you'll really appreciate, at a later time.

Saying 'thanks for the gift' in a thank-you card sounds best and is a little more polite.

You could just say "thanks for the generous gift of money."simple and effective.
