So, my dad has given me his car as a graduation gift.It is a restored 1972 Charger rally with a 440 motor, a 4 speed, and the dana 60 differential. (Airgrabber hood, and a 4 barrel)When I was 17 and went to scrap yards on parts searches the guy said that this was a SUPER rare setup for a non-R/T car. The car is bason street blue (B5) and in awesome condition. I would NEVER EVER dream of selling this thing and really wouldn't care if it was a 1:1 car, I am just interested if anyone out there has seen this type of thing.Everything on the car matches the build sheet from the titled car, I am afraid that one whole quarter panel and part of the other one are stolen from a 1971 but both had the side marker lights put back on, what a pain.Everything on the car matches the build sheet from the titled car, I am afraid that one whole quarter panel and part of the other one are stolen from a 1971 but both had the side marker lights put back on, what a pain.

Yes it is very rare especially if it is a #'s matching car which originally came with that engin trans and rear end....A 1972 and later with an airgrabber is pretty rare because by then the emissions concerns were dropping performance stuff off of most models and the focus was emissions and lowering insurance costs because of the gas crunch of the era also...Althought the air grabber set up added more horsepower without being detrimental to fuel economy too...It is disputed as to exactly how much horse power a air grabber/cold air induction adds to a car like this it can go from conservative estimates of 15-25 horsepower up to a higher estimate of closer to 50 horsepower by some Mopar enthusiasts...I Suggest you get a break down on the exact rarity of this car from GTS ("Galen's Tag Service) to authenticate your rare carthe Registry letter will give you a priceless document stating how rare this car really is...a fender tag breakdown I also highly recommend

It would be hard to believe that a 1972 came factory with an air grabber hood. The highest rated horsepower 440 for 1972 was 280 bhp and the torque rating was 375 foot pounds.Thats down from 385 bhp and 490 lbs ft of torque in 1971.It could have come from the factory but I'm more inclined to think someone added some of the options between 1972 and the time you received the car.Good luck and I hope for you it turns out the car is original as you'll have something special besides a great dad.
