| I know that Christmas is a ways off, but I want to sponsor a needy family this coming holiday season and I'll need to start setting aside money for it now. The families don't usually request specific gifts, they just don't want to have to have their children wake up to nothing Christmas morning. So what do these families need? No need to mention gift certificates for groceries or anything; I know that one. Answers need not be limited to the kids, I'd love to get some stuff for the parents too! My son is only two-years-old, so if anyone knows what dress codes are like in elementary schools and up that would be good to know for clothes shopping. |

| If you are thiking of a family, say in Africa or thirld world country oxfam have a system where you can buy a goat or some other livestock for a family of your choice. If in your country, personal gifts, bought by you, for each member of the family, is always a good one, mobile phones, dvd`s toys, and of course Tickets to a Christmas show, God bless you and have a great christmas yourself |

| one of the best Christmas gifts a kid could get is a bicycle. Now is the best time to get one because you can get realyy nice ones at garage sales. I got all my kids bikes at garage sales and they never knew the difference, because I only bought nice ones. I never spent more than $15 for one! I got one for $5 that looked brand new!You can find just about anything at yard sales that are still in their boxes. |

| Erica,I think it's awesome that you want to do this. Many times clothes, socks, under clothes and such are great gifts for needy families. Games are excellent ideas, too (board games, card games, etc. Most little girls like Barbies, baby dolls, play kitchens and such. Older girls tend to like things like jewelry, craft kits and things like that. Little boys like to play with cars, trucks and stuff. Older boys tend to like Legos, science kits and things like that.Of course, these are just general ideas. Each child is different in their interests. The parents could use things like gift certificates for grocery or department stores, restaurants & such. They could also enjoy things like hot spiced cider or hot chocolate with coffee cups. Maybe a cheese basket. Something to pamper themselves that they don't normally get to use (bath salts, loofah's etc.).Wee ones could use onesies, baby food, diapers and such. Those items are expensive & needy families have a tough time scraping together morney for these types of things sometimes.I hope this helps give you some good ideas! You are going to be a huge blessing to someone! Bless your incredibly generous heart. |
