Does anyone know of a good online site where you can buy a craft kit to make a gift card box for a wedding reception? We want something simple and elegant, no "wedding cakes" or those with yards of lace and frills. Thanks!

okay, i do not have a kit idea, but this is what my mom did.she took a detergent box and cleaned it out. then she simply wrapped fabric around it, making it look like a gift. it looked really cute, with the ribbons on the side and bow on the top. |

i have seen one at a reception that was just a nice silver (sterling) basket with a simple bow around the base. i thought it was very elegant and possibly something that can be reused in your home for decor (minus the bow).

I know this isn't a kit, but I personally like this site:http://www.perfectweddingbox.com/It is on the pricer side, but after you are done with it, you can place the cake topper, invitation or any other keepsake inside of it.

If you don't want it to be wedding themed anyway, then don't bother with searching for a wedding gift card box. You can make it yourself, and that way it will definately match your decor.Find a box the size you want ( a shoe box, powdered detergent box, empty cereal box, the box from one of the wedding gifts you got in the mail, etc.), then go to a craft store and purchase some fabric, or buy some wrapping paper in an appropriate design and color. Cut a hole in the top for cards to be put through (make sure it's big enough!), and then siply wrap the box. Make sure that any glue, tape, or pins used to secure the fabric or paper is hidden underneath seams or on the bottom or back of the box.Another thing I have seen people do is purchase a white wire birdcage and guests will place the cards there, or tie a ribbon in the wedding colors around a basket. Those two options are easier still than wrapping a box, plus you will have a decoration left over.

You can make one by wrapping an appropriate sized box with a great fabric and hot gluing it all down. Cut a slit in the top. Use some trim to edge the cut so it doesn't look ragged. The white bird cage idea is nice and secure, people can't get the cards out, and it looks nice on the gift table. Many party supply stores will have them for rent if you don't wnt to buy one.I've also used a mailbox. The one with the slit in the door for the enveloped to slide through. We decorated it with white fabric, just like the box idea. The couple still use that mailbox - without the fabric - at their house. The elegant part is going to be in the fabric and trim you choose. Good luck.
