Gift idea for my friend...?

My guy friend is turning 16, and I'm not sure what to get him. For a few of my other friends I made pop-up cards (i'm artistic lol) and had a bunch of people sign them with messages and stuff, with a cute picture inside. This was during the school year, but now it's summer and not a lot of people are around (plus I have no pics of him and I). He doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would really like this too much (I know it's the thought that counts) but I kind of want to give him something he can use as well. Note: We live in Sudan so getting him gift certificates and things from malls are out of the question. The only other ideas I had were a zippo lighter (he already has one but I was thinking maybe a slightly more expensive or even an engraved one) and some nice cologne? Suggestions?we're not super close, I've known him for a year and half but we never really started hanging out until last month. So I don't want to get anything too expensive, because I don't feel like we have that kind of relationship yet.
