I know this probably isn't the correct place to ask this question but I figured since I answer here the most that you would be better able to guide me.Well as some of you know I haven't been in the States all that long and my friend... in fact my best friend of seven years is going to graduate soon and I honestly do not know what the appropriate gift would be for a graduation present. We are close, very close but not dating and I really do not know what the "custom" is for this is in regards to graduation gifts.I was hoping you could help in guiding me on the correct path. If you need more information then just ask and I will provide it in additional details.

A treat would be good complete with a trip. Go to places where you n your friend usually go so that he knows that you care and you're a good friend. They would love to have those good times with you back, once again. Ouw,and usually, guys love to chat. Just take them to your room, and chat what happens during this year. What happens before graduating... Anything... i'll continue next time.

A good pen and pencil set is always a nice gift. Cross makes gift sets.

sorry xjoizey but a pen set is impersonal and a little weird. I like the trip idea. Your friend is a girl, right? it doesnt have to be extravagant, you can go cheap by maybe camping? or finding motels (though some of those are downright creepy). Plan fun activites. Stuff like kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, snowshoeing (depends on the season) or go to a city shes never been to and explore the museums, restaurants, and stores. The important thing will be giving her memories that she wont forget. Dont forget to take lots of pictures and pick up momentos like brochures, leaves, ticket stubs, etc and when you get home you could put it all into a scrapbook (there are classes that can help you assemble it if you've never scrapbooked before) or you can put it all in a "memory box" and give it to her.My second (and easier) idea is to get her a nice piece of jewelry. Necklaces are very nice. My favorite stones are opals.Whatever you end up giving her, I think you should also give her a note saying how proud you are of her accomplishment, congratulations, shes a good friend, etc.Thats what means the most.Good Luck
