I'm looking to give a wedding gift to some friends. I would like to give them a bittle of good wine that they can toast with on their 10th or 25th annivesary. I do not have hundreds of dollars to spend....more like $25 -50Thanks

Most CA Cabernet Sauvignons in that price range will be really nice in 10 years.I don't think ANY wines much older than that are in their prime, however. You can keep your WWII vintage Rothschild, thanks. (Unless you want to give it to me to sell to some sucker.)

red or white?try and find a bottle of 2001 Cab or Shiraz vintage. you'll be good. but to really get the full embodied effect of a vintage bottle of wine, it should really be stored in a seller. you shouldn't just throw it in the pantry and hope for the best.

Not everyone has a cellar that will allow them to store a wine in good condition for that many years. It's a good idea to choose a wine that will handle some abuse, in terms of being stored under less than ideal conditions. That usually means a fortified wine like port.A half bottle of vintage port from a great year like 2003 will fit into your price range, and it will hold up to decades of storage even if the conditions are not perfect. A good example would be the 2003 Fonseca vintage port.Cheers!
