I've been enjoying some very good wines from Australia lately. Shiraz in particular. A great red is called Kanoonga Hill, it runs around ten dollars a bottle. The best I've had so far is called Bin 28 Kalmina Shiraz, this runs around 28 dollars a bottle. Both these great wines come from Penfolds winery. You really should give them both a try. Hope this helps !!!

Go to a nice liquor store or a nice supermarket and you can get some good options.By the way, the same brand of wine maybe different, depending on the year, so it is a bit of a lottery game to get the best one. Don't be afraid to ask the person who works there. They can recommend good wines for a moderate price.By the way in wine more expensive doesn;t means better.

I will suggest a Zinfandel from Sonoma county (Dry Creek or Alexander Valley). This is not the thing they call white zinfandel. Napa wines are expensive! Zinfandel is grape with give you a lot of red wine flavor and they sell for less money then Cabernet, Merlot or Pinot. This is difference bringing something that is OK just and something good. You get more wine for you buck with Zin. You should be able to fine a good one between $12.00 to $18.00. I do not know what wines are available in your area; therefore, a local wine store may be able to help you. It is hard to make bad wine with Zinfandel.

Lambrusco is a good wine. It's on the dry side, but has a hint of sweetness to it, so it doesn't seem as dry. It has a beautiful color, too. A nice deep, deep burgundy color.I usually shy away from "really cheap" wines, but Riunite actually has a good Lambrusco. I've tried all kinds, and it's simply the best one, for me. I can't recall the price, but I know it's not really expensive.Asking at a specialty wine shop would be a good idea. Not too many clerks in a main stream grocery store will know a good wine, even if it were to bite them on the rump. Choosing a wine can be difficult, but it doesn't have to be.Also, if there are any wineries near you, you could visit one and ask them for help. Many wineries are more than happy to explain the process of wine making and let you sample the different varieties. You might even find one that strikes your fancy, and you'll end up buying 2 bottles. One for you, and one for your friends.
