I have a friend who is going to Italy soon, and I want to buy him a gift. I don't think he's traveling to a specific region; I believe that it's a multi-week tour around the whole country. He's very much into wine (which I don't know that much about) and food, also; I believe that tours of wineries will be a part of the trip, as will plenty of fine dining.Any suggestions? Thanks!

I've never heard of sending some one on vacation with a gift.food will be confiscated in customs so, no go.wine, I'm sure he'll get enough of that over in Italy.get him something useful, like a travel neck pillow, a nice corkscrew like fish fry said. or a really nice journal that he can write down the foods and wines he tries, as well as the rest of his experience.that would be most suitable!Alexiis

If your friend is going to Italy, about the only thing you can do is get him a glass and a fork. There is so much good food and wine in Italy that there's nothing you can get for him that he won't be able to get better there.A guide to Italy's regional foods and wines would also be a good idea. Also any information regarding the Italian people and culture.A good Italian-English / English-Italian dictionary wouldn't hurt either. One last thought, though impractical, ask him if you can go too. Of all the countries I've visited in Europe, I think Italy's my favorite.
