Pleated Wrapping Technique
Pleating is a very versatile and simple technique. Sections of pleated paper make wonderful gift wrapping. Use fairly thin paper that can be folded easily. Vary the widths of the pleats and the width of the paper for difrerent effects. Keep the pleating tidy and even to achieve the best results. White, textured, handmake paper looks particularly effective. The delicate pleating used on the gifts opposite captures the feel of Japanese papercraft.

Instructions:

1. Cut sufficient paper to wrap your box. Cut a piece of paper about twice the length of the box, for pleating. Begin folding over the width of pleat you require. Make a narrow strip of pleated paper, and a very small section for the matching tag.

2. Wrap the gift. Secure the large piece of pleated paper at the one end. Gently twist the paper until the desired effect is achieved and attach the other end. Add the narrow pleated strip in the same way.
